Emesent announced as finalist for Queensland Mining Awards 2020

Emesent has been announced as a finalist for the Greyhound Innovation (METS) Award in 2020’s Queensland Mining Awards.

Emesent’s Hovermap technology impressed a panel of senior executives from several major resource companies, each of whom cast a keen eye towards creative strategies in solving safety and risk-reduction problems. Jodie Currie, Director for Bowen Basin Mining Club and host for the Queensland Mining Awards, passed comment on this unusually crowded field of contestants, praising the competitiveness of several submissions.

“Our most popular category was the Innovation (METS) Award, with a number of outstanding innovations on the table,” said Ms Currie. “Judges were looking for quantifiable outcomes and future applications – and they weren’t disappointed.”

Already an award-winner from 2019’s Good Design Awards, Emesent’s Hovermap is an innovative combination of LiDAR-based mapping technologies, the utility of commercial drones, and ground-breaking levels of autonomous function. Employed at many of the major mining and infrastructure companies across the world, Hovermap delivers an unprecedented solution to mapping GPS-denied and hazardous environments.

Winners of the awards will be revealed during the QMA Gala Awards Dinner in Mackay on September 23rd.
